CLASS VIDEOS
Welcome back to SJV! I am excited for the 2013-2014 school year to begin!
One of the new exciting changes for the 8th grade is a new math curriculum! We have adopted the Connected Mathematics Project 3 (CMP3) for grades 6-8. CMP3 aligns to the Common Core State Standards and prepares students for college and careers. Additionally, the CMP3 program covers all common core Algebra I standards as well! Information will be coming home to you about the program, including the online resources, but in the meantime you may check out the program at Pearson. The units we will cover are:
1.) Linear and Inverse Variation;
2.) The Pythagorean Theorem;
3.) Exponential Functions;
4.) Quadratic Functions;
5.) Symmetry and Transformations;
6.) Making Sense of Symbols;
7.) Systems of Linear Equations and Inequalities; and
8.) The Families of Functions.
I maintain my high expectations for all students to accept the challenging work with a positive attitude and commitment to always give their best effort.
